Hi, I’m Lauren.
I’m a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I am experienced in working with depression, anxiety, bullying, PTSD, survivors of sexual and/or domestic violence, and childhood issues. I offer an integrative counselling model, primarily working in a person-centred way, informed by psychodynamic theory and internal family systems.
This just means that in all things, I will be guided by you, the client, and we can talk about anything you wish, with no agenda on my part. It also means that I understand that a person may have conflicting feelings within themselves – perhaps you may have said something like, “Part of me feels sad about this event, but another part of me feels a little pleased” – I can explore these different parts with you and help you to understand yourself and how all the things in your life have affected you.
I earned my postgraduate diploma and qualified to provide therapy and counselling from Staffordshire University, where I am also currently working towards a masters degree. When I’m not engaged in counselling work or study, I can usually be found spending time with my family, reading, playing video games or D&D, or spending an inordinate amount of time solving the world’s problems with friends over coffee.
